Executive Overview

Finlio is a production personal finance management ecosystem live on the Google Play Store. It empowers users to track expenses, manage budgets, log investments, monitor debt/loans, and achieve savings goals through an intuitive, privacy-first mobile application.

Core Problem Statement

Most personal finance apps enforce cloud locking, collect sensitive banking data, or suffer from sluggish user flows during daily transaction logging. Finlio addresses these bottlenecks by operating 100% locally with zero-trust privacy, instant OCR receipt parsing, and user-controlled encrypted backups.

Architectural & Technical Highlights

  • Relational Local Database (Drift / SQLite): Designed a robust database schema using Drift (drift_flutter) with reactive query streams, ACID transaction boundaries, and schema migration pathways for zero-data-loss upgrades.
  • On-Device Machine Learning (OCR): Integrated Google ML Kit Text Recognition paired with custom Dart image preprocessing techniques to automatically extract merchant names, dates, and amounts from paper receipts.
  • Clean Architecture & Scalability: Architected using Clean Architecture patterns with get_it dependency injection, injectable generators, go_router deep linking, and Flutter Riverpod state management.
  • Zero-Trust Security & Encryption: Secured application state using local_auth (Biometrics & PIN lock with configurable timeout) and hardware-backed key encryption (flutter_secure_storage).
  • Encrypted Cloud Synchronization: Integrated Google Drive REST API (googleapis) enabling user-managed, client-side encrypted backup and restore without intermediate server exposure.
  • Multi-Language & Global Reach: Localized into 8 major languages (EN, BN, ES, HI, JA, PT, RU, ZH) with dynamic multi-currency converter capabilities.
